HI FRIEND, I’M JEN SOSA

Living in Los Angeles, CA, originally from Queens, NY. I dabbled in photography in college but decided “this isn’t for me.”

You see, photography always appealed to me but my introverted self didn't think I could overcome my shyness to become a photographer.

Fresh out of college, I landed a job working as a graphic design assistant at Rocawear. A couple of years later, 2008 happened. I was one of the many employees let go. Let me tell you, getting laid off was one of the best things to happen to me. Exhausted from spending my life behind a screen, I grabbed my dusty camera and explored the concrete jungle.

Photography as a career found me that summer through multiple facebook messages from people who felt that I captured their personalities well. I haven’t looked back since.

What is personal brand photography?
If you’re a small business owner, you are your brand. Having an image that shows your personality builds the know, like trust factor. Imagine photos that capture your process, what you’re like behind the scenes, or a creative editorial that builds value for what you have to offer.
Why is it important?
We’re visual beings that often need to be shown not told things. Think of your favorite celebrity that has made an impact. Chances are names like Madonna, Oprah, Audrey Hepburn, Elon Musk, Will Smith, Lady Gaga create an immediate response. Do you think that would exist if they didn’t show up consistently as their unique selves? Showing people who you are, establishes a connection. After all, people buy stories they connect with not just a product.
How can this help me with my business?
If you’re a small business owner, you are your brand. It’s easier to engage with someone you can connect with than a random person behind a screen. When you are clear with your goals you magnetically start attracting the right clients because they feel seen by you.
